This book provides both a narrative and analytical account of National Socialism in Germany. Social and economic aspects and policies of The Third Reich are examined, along with an account of German foreign policy 1933-39 and the effects of war on the Nazi state. As well as discussing a number of the major historiographical  issues relating to a study of Nazi Germany, the author also looks at the legacy of the Third Reich and puts it into the longer term context of German history. This book is part of a series entitled Access to History. Study guides for students are included in each chapter. The book will not only be useful to students but will also be of interest to the general reader.
