This book, which is apparently based on a dress for less column of the same name in British Vogue, is kind of a more formal and buttoned down, very English version of Cheap Chic. For something related to Vogue, this book is surprisingly down to earth. I was pleasantly shocked when Kate Hogg says that you shouldn’t get so hung up on makeup that you refuse to let the world see your face without it–for a Vogue writer that’s a pretty subversive mindset! The whole book is chock full of amazing, lush editorial fashion photography, and while some people might snort at the so 80s it hurts New Romantic looks with lots of layering, they look pretty timeless & cool to me.
