This is a revised edition of the book first published in 1963 and is intended for those who are already familiar with the subject. The book covers a wide and fascinating range of exotic fish. The fish are illustrated in brilliant colour and each one is described fully with details of the conditions under which they best thrive and breed. The first part of the book introduces the fishes which are easily kept and maintained. The fish described in this section of the book are cared for using simple methods and the author also gives details of the aquarium plants which are suitable for them. The second part of the book deals with fishes which require more specialised care and understanding. This group of fishes offer a higher degree of interest and may provide exciting results. The third section has been specially written by the British Aquarist’s Study Society and outlines the practical details which will be of particular need to those beginning to keep tropical fish. The author writes about the natural habitat of tropical fish which includes a description of the water plants which not only feed the fish but help to keep the water alive and pure. The book includes 123 illustrations by Rein Stuurman and H. van Kruiningen. These illustrations provide a colourful and accurate portrayal of the fish and plant species.
Hardback – with dust jacket showing some signs of wear and tear – some discolouration to edges of pages – otherwise the book is in a good condition in view of age (1967)
