This book is an excellent preview into HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC).

Even though the series and book were shot and written over 20 years ago now it, a lot of things are still the same in regards to their innter workings. It covers a wide variety of duties carried out by HMRC, then still HM Customs and Excise (HMCE). Bringing several case studies to light it also gives an insight to the start of the drugs flow into the UK. It simplifies a lot of the inner workings of Customs and gives quite an idea as to the powers they possess. It doesn’t go too indepth in most of its subjects but gives the reader quite a good idea to the way things operate behind the scenes.

Covering from drug busts and raids to investigating VAT fraud. A diverse selection of material that’ll keep you wanting to finish the book.
