This hefty book will tell you all you need to know about old-fashioned gardening techniques. It was written by experts for the serious amateur or the would-be ‘head gardener’. It covers every aspect of the art from making ravel paths to forcing early vegetables, and is jammed full of diagrams and photographs. There are even 16 colour illustrations (a lot for the period), wonderfully naff and completely of their time. The black and white photographs are not to be sniffed at – many of them show the gardener how to do tricky jobs and they will be really useful to anyone serious about gardening.
Hardback – discolouration of pages inside front and back cover and foxing throughout the book – though book is in reasonable condition in view of age (1957)
