This book has been written to enable those who have a taste for the furniture of a bygone age to arrive at some conclusion as to the essential points of the various styles made in England. The  author presents a historical account of the progress and development in the art of making domestic furniture with special reference to its evolution in this country. However some of the chapters are about French furniture and there are chapters about designs by Chippendale, Sheraton, Adam and Hepplewhite. The book is illustrated throughout with  black and white drawings and will be a useful addition to the library of those with a special interest in traditional furniture. The book is the 13th edition first published in 1905.

Hardback –  some looseness of the spine of the book and fading of clothbound cover – there is also some foxing to the pages insde the front and back covers – otherwise the book is in good condition in view of age (1925)
