The author has given a brief outline of the history of jewelry but mainly deals with the fashion of the last two hundred years up to the time of the publication of the book.  The book is illustrated throughout with black and white photographs and line drawings. The book also includes diagrams, charts and a map showing sources of precious stones and metals.
